maxwell stanley has supported a London-based acute NHS Trust to improve the accuracy of its income by over £2 million through a new data validation project.

The project saw the Trust improve the accuracy and completeness of its coded data by embedding the maxwell stanley solution and identifying potential coding errors, in addition to potential source documentation issues, where chronic comorbidities previously coded have not been recorded in the current admission.

Driven by the solution, the Trust was also able to establish an internal coding review culture, managed completely in-house, to support continuous data validation across all sites, promote understanding for all staff and encourage maximum clinician engagement.

As a result, the Trust improved the accuracy of their financial reimbursement for activity undertaken at the Trust by an additional £2.1 million in 12 months in addition to ensuring the accuracy of their performance metrics, driven by the same activity data.
